For each piobaireachd we offer a recording that has been compressed using industry standard 256Kb/s MP3 encoding. We also offer an Adobe PDF version of the manuscript which includes the accompanying canntaireachd and a Bagpipe Music Writer file which can be used as an additional learning aid (Bagpipe Music Writer software is required to play these files). You can also download all three as a package.

Struan Robertson's SaluteLittle is know about the origin of the title for this tune other than it may have an alternative title "The Coming of the Clan Donnachie". This is derived from a tale of the arrival of the Clan Donnachie at the Battle of Bannockburn. Following the Battle and a brave fight by the Clan Donnachie, Robert the Bruce asked the Chief of the Clan Bonnachie to name his eldest son 'Robert' and it is from this line of Roberts that the present name derives. |
