New PDF files

New PDF files with Canntaireachd have now been to the site. Complete packages are now available for MacLeod of Raasay's Salute, Lament for Mary MacLeod, Lament for the Only Son, MacIntosh's Banner and Lament for the Old Sword.

London Prize

Roddy MacLeod won the London Medallion for Former Winners March, Strathspey and Reel playing at the Scottish Piping Society of London this weekend. This was the fourth time in succession. Congratulations to Iain Speirs who won the Bratach Gorm.

Roddy MacLeod's winnng performance from the Glenfiddich championship can be viewed and listened to by following links to the BBC and STV websites.

Both broadcasters have significantly stepped up their interest in piping events. Gordon Walker's winning MSR can also be heard.

New scores added

A number of new scores have now been added to the website. This completes pages 1 and 2 of the Tunes section and work is continuing on the remaining pages. The scores with canntaireachd are available in PDF format and the BMW file for each tune is also available.

Piping Live! Recital

On the 11th of August, Roddy MacLeod will give a recital at the Hutcheson's Hall, Glasgow at 3.30 pm as part of the Piping Live! festival.

The festival this year includes an Art Exhibition consisting of over 70 pieces of artwork which are all named after pipe tunes. The artwork includes paintings, prints, carvings and sculptures. Roddy will perform sets of tunes relating to the pieces on display.

Silver Chanter

Roddy MacLeod has been invited to play at the Silver Chanter Piping Competition to be held in Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye on the 6th of August. The tune he has been selected to play is Lament for Donald Doughal MacKay.

Unjust Incarceration and Prince's Salute now available for download

Two prizewinning tunes recorded at the Dan Reid Memorial piping competition in San Francisco have now been added to the site. A link to the Dan Reid website provides access to more great recordings.

Roddy MacLeod Piobaireachd Vol.1 nominated for Solo Piping Album of Year

In the PipesDrums website annual New year's honours nominations, Roddy MacLeod Piobaireachd Vol.1 received a commendable nomination for Solo Piping Album of the Year.

The commentary described the newly released CD as follows:

"MacLeod's excellent disc is a portent for a great series to come. "Beautiful pipe sound, great musical playing," said one panelist. The CD also includes pdf files of the tunes, and links back to MacLeod's new website where even more materials are available. With this project, MacLeod continues the trend toward value-added compact discs, pushing the project beyond entertainment and into a complete learning experience."

New tunes to be added

Three more tune have recently been recorded and will be added to the site very soon.

The latest tunes to be recorded include "I got a kiss of the King's hand", "Rory MacLoude's Lament" and "The Old Woman's Lullaby". It is anticipated that these tunes will be added to the site by mid January.

3rd November. Roddy MacLeod wins the London Medallion Former Winners MSR for the third time in succession and is runner up in the Bratach Gorm at the Scottish piping Society of London competition.

Glenfiddich Championships

27th October. Roddy MacLeod wins 1st prize in Piobaireachd for a record 6th time at the Glenfiddich Piping Championships. 2nd Overall. Gordon Walker was the Overall Champion.
